Remediation funds for building renovation or pre-demolition abatement of asbestos or lead-based paint are eligible. Costs for abating small quantities of other types of hazardous contamination found in buildings such as mercury in thermostats, oils in door closers, and other contamination related to HVAC systems are generally not eligible for reimbursement. Non-hazardous wastes such as household waste and solid waste including construction debris and old tires are not eligible for TBRA grant funding.
