Are the converted times accurate?
The conversion system conforms to the algorithm specified by SportSystems which was used to generate the Equivalent Performance Tables. The conversion algorithm used in the swimcalc converter has been checked against the data in the ASA documents and also against the Windows based converter distributed by SportSystems. So we’re pretty confident that there are no errors in the data that we base our conversions on. If you think you’ve found an error, though, we’d be delighted to hear from you. We think we are 100% correct, but if we’re not then we’ll fix it immediately. The Equivalence Tables have an upper and lower bound so cannot cater for all conversions (for example, the 50m Freestyle conversion table caters for 25m times between 21.1 and 44.5 seconds). Where a time/distance/stroke combination is entered which falls outside of those bounds, the algorithm is still used to generate an estimated result.
