The tubes are made from borosilicate glass, which is very tough (also known as Pyrex). The tubes are designed to withstand hailstones up to 35mm. so they are unlikely to be broken, unless dropped onto a solid floor prior to installation. Impact from falling animals is not normally considered in the design of the tubes. The plates are even harder to damage and it would take a large impact to stop them from working, obviously the better quality product you purchase, of any type, the more substantial the collector.
