Are the children in PACE taught the standard Northshore Curriculum?
PACE students are taught following State and District standards, but our teachers dont always use the “Standard Northshore Curriculum” – sometimes the students are taught using different educational materials. For example, the 1-2 class uses the Open Court language arts curriculum as instead of Houghton-Mifflin (the NSD standard). In the 3-4 class, John Borga uses the Scott Foresman Addison Wesley math program as an alternative to the district standard Everyday Math. In the 5-6 classroom, Bob teaches his personally-developed “Bobs Math” in addition to Everyday Math. However, PACE students do take the WASL in the 4th grade and are held to the same standards as the neighborhood classrooms.
