Are the chances of getting pregnant two days before ovulation greater than the day of ovulation?
There is no simple yes or no answer to this. Having unprotected sex 2 days before ovulation is very likely to result in getting pregnant , as has been pointed out, because the sperm can live for several days in your reproductive system. Think of them as guests, hiding in the living room, waiting for the guest of honour at a surprise party. As for the day of ovulation, it depends on the relative time of the ovulation and the sex. If you ovulate at 1 a.m., and you don’t have sex until 10 p.m., chances are low. The egg is fertile an average of about 12 hours and sperm travels about an inch an hour – in my illustration, there could be a gap of about 26 hours , by which time it is no longer viable.
