Are the beaches in Gulf Shores nice right now?”
First of all I should say I had never been there before, so I don’t know what it might have been like before. But I was not impressed at all with the beaches there. We were in a rental house right on the ocean. The beaches were not “dirty” really, but the water was brownish and quite murky — not at all the clear blue water that I had seen pictures of. The sand on the beach was nice enough, but there was some debris and toys, etc that people had left and had gotten blown around – it wasn’t like they looked terrible, just a little messy at times. One neat thing I liked though is that there were lots of tiny little shells on the shores. The beaches where we were staying were not crowded at all, so that was nice, too. There was still some significantly noticeable hurricane damage, but I would say most of the places had done whatever repairs had been necessary. The dunes were still being rebuilt, so they didn’t look like you might expect. I hope that helps.
