Are the Audi A3 and Q5 Luxury Crossover Really the Same Car?
The 2010 Audi A3 Sportback and the Q5 luxury utility vehicle couldn’t be more different, be it in their engine options, running gear, materials choice, um, wait. All of this stuff is pretty similar in both of these cars (or in the case of the Q5 “luxury crossover”) so why is an A3 on knobbier rubber (the Q5) so much more expensive? Please don’t start with the “the Q5 has Quattro” argument as many models of the very fun to drive, frugal and spacious A3 are available that way too. While the Audi A3 “only” has a turbocharged 2.0T that pumps out the same amount as a basic A4 and has no trouble keeping up with the Q5 which has a 3.2 liter V6 with 270 horsepower but a whole lot more heft to lug around. Oddly enough Audi dropped the 3.2 liter V6 engine option for the latest model year in the A3. There is now a great deal of talk of a 2.0T Q5 and if that happens it would be embarrassing (even for those easily embarrassed folks at marketing). Both the Q5 and A3 have plenty of power for most any
