Are tenants required to give a 30 day notice?

0

In most states, the policy of thirty (30) days written notice is standard for a month-to-month lease agreement. Tenant is required to notify LL in writing of intent to vacate and provide a forwarding address. Otherwise LL may not be able to forward security deposit settlement statement or be able to confirm the date of move-out. Without a tenant notice to vacate to confirm move-out, LL can sue for at least one (1) month of non-payment of rent. Based upon prior posts, LL should obtain a working knowledge of landlord / tenant housing law. The prior issues regarding expired lease agreements, rent increases, heating and utilities, etc. may warrant a specialist in landlord / tenant housing issues. It is worth the investment rather than obtaining information based upon on a trial and error for multiple years.
