ARE TEENAGERS NARROW MINDED?
I don’t think that the problem with teenagers is one of narrow-mindedness, just that they are insecure and trust other people’s judgements more than their own. They may come across as opinionated or over-confident but much of the time they are either simply parrotting what someone else who they consider cooler, smarter or more popular than themselves has said or else they are giving you what they believe is the concensus viewpoint of whatever peer group that they want to fit in with. Most adults are not immune to this either, you tend to see this behaviour in adults whenever a subject comes up that they have little knowledge, experience or expertise in, they revert right back to “The authority figure/everyone else says… ” attitude whenever they don’t know (some do this much more than others, just like teenagers). It is particularly noticable in teenagers because that is when the pressure to be accepted by other people is highest and when the amount of actual personal experience is lo
