Hamsters are ok with kids as long as your brother knows not to hold him too tight or scare it. They cost around $10-20 at Petco I have the same problem, I wanted a mouse but my parents hates their tail lol. So hamsters are my choice too. Yeah, then your brother would be fine with a hamster, its not that hard to take care of it. Just remember not to scare it because it can bite!
