Are SUVs rebounding as gas prices stay lower?
A. Well, we probably sell more full sized SUVs than any dealer in the area. It’s been part of the business for years and years. This whole gas situation has made the industry seem schizophrenic. GM is sitting on small cars, enjoying full-sized sales. But it’s like a tide. Who knows when gas prices are $3-$4 a gallon. To keep inventory stocked up is nerve wracking. Our Chevy stores’ mid-to compact is a years’ supply. We sold 6 Hummers last months; we sell 3-5 a month. Q. What new cars are on the horizon? A. The Pontiac G3 has just been released. It gets 37 mpg. The G8 GXP, a 415 hp muscle car. is in the showroom, said new car manager Rick Thompson. We are only one of two dealers in the state to get one, he said.
