Are sunflowers seeds fattening?
ONLY if you eat a lot and if they were roasted and salted. 2-4 tablespoons a day is good. Sunflower seeds are really healthy because they lower cholestrol (phytosterols), they also have a lot of protein, B-complex vitamins, vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, and potassium. If you eat them make sure on the label is says they are Dry Roasted (same as Raw) and salt free. Even though sunflower seeds are healthy, oils is seeds and nuts is highly perishable, so exposing them to heat (roasting for example) severly alters the seed or nut. This is why choosing dry roasted, versus roasted is the best option. Oil from sunflower seeds is also very healthy, but make sure on the label it says the oil is Cold-Pressed.
