Are summer stock and internships a good way to get started?
That’s an easy way for a young person to get started. Well… not easy. Certainly you have to have a free summer and a little parental help because they don’t generally pay you very much, so you have to have a little bit saved up. Internships are great, but if you’re not getting paid you should be getting credit towards Equity. I like the idea of learning from working professionals, being around a more professional atmosphere. When I graduated I was looking at going to grad school, but not for acting. I knew I wanted to find an internship as sort of a step between, so I went to the SETC again and applied to both Louisville and Cincinnati. I went with Cincinnati basically because you could work during the day and do your internship at night. Plus Louisville wait listed me, of course, which was also part of it.
