Are Summer College alumni favored for admission to Cornell as undergraduates?
No, they are not. Here’s why: Admission to Cornell is based upon a variety of factors and is highly competitive. The high school record, including the transcript and standardized test scores, written essays, and letters of recommendation provide Cornell admissions officers with a sense of one’s potential to succeed at Cornell. In addition to a strong high school record, summer academic enrichment programs, such as Summer College, will provide admissions officers with additional information about one’s academic potential. As a part of your Summer College experience, you will have the opportunity to attend admissions workshops, benefit from one-on-one admissions consultations, and get first-hand information about whether you’d like to apply for admission to Cornell. Attending Summer College will often confirm whether Cornell is the right place for you. Last year, more than 135 Summer College alumni were accepted as undergraduates at Cornell as both freshman and transfer students.
