Are sugar gliders ok as pets in the UK?
Sugar gliders are available as pets in the UK yes, and dont listen to the killjoy above they make fantastic little pets, however there are some things you MUST understand: 1. Sugar gliders are social. It is frowned upon to keep them alone in the UK. Its VERY cruel to keep social animals alone, in sugar gliders it can cause depression, aggression and self mutilation. If you cannot afford two sugar gliders it is very cruel to keep one. 2. They are expensive to buy and expensive to keep…around £15 a week just to feed and bed and vet bills are massive for them, you’ll need to look around for a vet who can treat them and possibly travel a long way to find one. They run about £250-£300 a pair in the UK, a decent cage of 2X2X4 will cost about £120 and toys another £30 or so. 3.
