Yes, if a student took dual enrollment coursework while in high school and was not classified as a “degree-seeking” student at the college where he/she was enrolled, the student may still be considered a first year in college student. However, if the student had been formally admitted to the postsecondary institution and was considered “degree-seeking” then he/she must qualify next as a second year student after accumulating the appropriate number of earned hours to be considered eligible.
