Are student loan companies being singled out?
Not according to experts in the relevant fields. In an interview with The Chronicle, Dallas Martin, president of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, or Nasfaa, retracted his earlier criticisms of Mr. Cuomo. Mr. Martin, in a letter in March, said Mr. Cuomo was engaged in “unwarranted character assassination of public servants who only want to do what is best for their students and their families.” Most college aid administrators are well intentioned and deserve “a prompt and public apology” from the attorney general, he wrote. Subsequent revelations have proved the validity of the attorney general’s investigation, Mr. Martin said in the interview. “I look back on it now I’m sorry I maybe said that,” Mr. Martin said, referring to the letter. “I would be the first to say back to him now that while I was quick to jump to judgment on that, I think he’s brought to light some situations that I can’t certainly go along with.” link And a recent Chronicle of Higher
