Are strikes really necessary?
The IBEW believes that if employers and workers can discuss issues in an atmosphere of mutual respect and concern, strikes should not occur. Unfortunately, emotions and philosophies sometimes overcome simple logic. We strive to promote the ideals of common-sense approaches with employers to address employee concerns. The IBEW prefers mutually beneficial relationships with employers to strikes. What do I do if I am contacted/approached by the media to comment on the Strike? All requests by the media shall be referred to the Local Union Office 1-888-356-2034 for official comments. I am currently working in a temporary position outside of the IBEW jurisdiction. What is my obligation? Any member that chooses to remain working in a position outside our jurisdiction in the event of a strike will be considered the same as any other IBEW member who crosses the picket line to work.
