Are steroids as dangerous as commonly prescribed drugs, such as Ritalin and the various antidepressants?
Not sure anyone knows the answer for any of these compounds. We’ve been taking synthetic substances into our bodies for a very short time, but we do know that body processes and structures, having evolved for millions of years, are not very accepting of body invasions. We should be a bit more humble about our ability to master our biology. Is it a contradiction that Major League Baseball advertises Viagra during its broadcasts while banning steroids? Is drug-aided sex more “authentic” than a drug-aided home run? It’s true that authenticity is a part of this. We want to know that a performance is pure, so we can have our legends and heroes, so we can keep our sense of what is greatness. To me, this makes sense, even if it’s not going to happen.
