Are standard CRB checks still available?
Yes. Pending outcomes of the Government’s review of the Scheme and Criminal Records Regime, trusts will be able to continue to obtain standard CRB checks for those positions where individuals will have contact with patients as part of their normal duties, as per previous requirements. However, standard CRB checks no longer disclose any information about a person’s barred status against the Children’s (formerly PoCA) or Vulnerable Adults (formerly PoVA) lists, and therefore must not be used where appointing individuals in regulated activity from 12 October 2009.
