Are St Bernards good watchdogs?
A Saint Bernards giant size, deep bark, and natural curiosity will discourage most intruders. Many of my guests are at first intimidated by a giant dog intently looking in the drivers side window at them face to face when they drive up and are still seated in the their car. Your dog’s instinct will be to protect his family, but he much prefers to be a friend to all comers. The attitude your Saint develops will largely depend upon you and the training you provide him. If you have a suspicious nature your dog will likely adopt your outlook and follow your lead.
