Are spider plants poisonous to dogs or cats?
Answer Hi Judy, Some botanical sources have Spider Plants listed as poisonous and some have it listed as a ‘safe’ plant. Actually there really are no ‘safe’ plants. Even plants that are considered nonpoisonous can still cause harm to pets if ingested, especially in young puppies and/or kittens. Any plant could cause a potentially fatal allergic reaction. It is best to keep all houseplants out of reach of pets, poisonous or not. One way to help keep pets from chewing on houseplants is to grow a small pot of cat grass. Dogs and cats need a little bit of vegetation in their diets. For pets that go outside, they will often chew on grass. Keeping a pot of cat grass available to pets (cats and dogs both), especially those that are kept strictly indoors, will help keep them from getting their dietary greenery from houseplants. You can get a small bag of cat grass from any pet store for about $2. I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don’t hesitate
