Are some cities and courthouses harsher on DUI offenders than others?
Yes. While judges and prosecutors everywhere are under pressure to crack down on DUI offenders, some locations are much harsher than others. The simple fact is that where you got your DUI greatly affects your chances of beating the case, working out an acceptable plea agreement or staying out of jail. In counties where there is a significant DUI problem, an offender may be more likely to be sentenced to jail time. Counties with a lower DUI problem but a higher jail overcrowding issue may be less likely to put a DUI offender in jail due to overcrowding concerns.
