Are soldier boys player haters?
If the question is whether or not soldiers hate those who are “players,” and, if by “players” you mean those who think they’re “movers and shakers,” then, while I believe some ill feelings are deserved, I don’t think soldiers hate them. I think soldiers are so far above those who “play at life,” that they tend to treat them with less reverence than those “players” think they deserve. If that’s called “hate,” then, by that definition, such “players” are “hated.” But, in fact, I don’t believe soldiers really give a darn about them. Certainly they wouldn’t waste time or energy hating them. They’re not worth the effort. I read a description of “players.” “Carcasses bloated by the putrefying gases of their own pomposity.” But that was written in the late 1800s. I guess some things never change. Were it not for the soldiers, the “players” would have no place to play, nor the freedom to do so. If the “players” are too ignorant to realize that, that’s their problem.
