Are small dogs safer pets around children?
Being a dog-lover of all diferent types and sizes of dogs, I find this a particularly difficult question. I have had large dogs all my life, and in fact didn’t care for small dogs very much at all. Mainly because I grew up with and around large dogs who were all very devoted, gentle, and friendly. I found small dogs rather yappy, snappy, and generally useless. All that has changed, though. About 8 years ago I acquired a beautiful puppy. He was a mutt, but looked mostly Golden Lab (although his mother had Blue Heeler, Collie, and who knows what else in her). He was very friendly and intelligent, and extremely athletic. He could even climb trees. For 3 years he was a great dog; I took him to obedience classes and spent a lot of time with him, as did my young son who was about 8 at the time.
