Sleeping pills are categorize as downers, so both alcohol and downers compete for the same system in the liver and the liver could not handle the load so the drug molecules are reabsorbed and cycle throughout the body. When taking both of it together, you have lack of reflexes which makes you not able to concentrate and focus well.
