6,500 Afghans have so far registered at 2 camps run by the Iranian Red Crescent just inside the Afghanistan side of the border with Iran. Cases of malnutrition, diarrhoea and malaria have been diagnosed among the arrivals. The Iranian Red Crescent is providing daily rations of food, blankets, kitchen utensils and jerry cans. Water is being trucked to the camp from a town 20 kilometres away in Iran.
