Are Silicone gel-filled implants safe?
Through much research and numerous studies conducted, the FDA has determined that silicone gel-filled implants are safe and effective. Dr. Baker was one of the 20 investigative plastic and reconstructive surgeons across America selected to participate in Mentor Corporation’s Core Gel Study in 2001. The data was gathered from patients receiving primary and revisional breast augmentation. Dr. Baker was active in supplying data of 44 patients out of 551 primary breast augmentation patients nationally, who participated in Mentor’s study. The findings of this study were instrumental in the FDA’s final approval of silicone gel breast implants on Friday, November 17, 2006.
