Are siblings or relatives of alumnae favoured over other applicants?

A. A qualified “no” is the answer. All applicants must present themselves for assessment and an interview and all must meet Branksome’s basic academic requirements. In a case where two applicants are truly equal in merit, the school will likely favour the student who has a prior connection to the school. In recent years we have been proud to accept upwards of 50 new girls per year who have such a connection, but have also found ourselves in the occasional position of having to turn down a relative of a Branksomite for academic reasons. The school believes that its first obligation is to provide an academic program from which every student can benefit, and does not knowingly admit students who will be in certain difficulty.
