Are shimano fishing rods good quality?
Shimano, like the other “major” rod manufactures, have a line of rods that range from absolute crap to pretty good. They used to only have crap to “ehh – ok” rods until a few years back when the acquired G.Loomis and started implementing that technology into their higher end rods. Now they have some pretty nice rods, although they aren’t great yet. The rod you have, the NEXAVE, aren’t bad actually. They’re rated pretty good, and don’t have many complaints. You may want to check if there is an “over the counter” lifetime warranty on them. They are in that range that allows for that. I have some shimano clarus rods, prices just below the Nexave line that are lifetime warantied. All I have to do is go to a store that carries the same rod, give them the broken one and they give me a new one – no receipt necessary. They take care of sending it in to shimano for me. The warranty service may be different in other countries – I’m in the US. I wouldn’t recommend splicing the blank unless you re
