Are shampoos that contain sodium lauryl sulfate harsh to our hair?
• Yes. Sodium Laurly (Laureth) Sulfate is nothing more than a soaping agent used to cleanse the hair. Shampoo’s containing these ingredients can be used for clarifying the hair once a month, but I no longer recommend the use of shampoo that contains sulfates, because it can strip African American hair of it’s moisture. If you need to clarify the hair from excessive buildup try using the Kinky-Curly Shampoo and mix it with one 1TSP of baking soda.
