Are services and accommodations available for students with a temporary disability?
• A: Yes. A temporary disability due to illness or injury can be accommodated. Professional documentation must be provided verifying the nature of the condition, stating the expected duration of the condition and describing the type of accommodation that is necessary. Documentation for a temporary disability must be no older than 60 days. Although temporary disabilities are not covered under the ADA and Section 504, services are provided on an as-needed basis. However, personal care such as transportation and attendants cannot be provided.
