Vincent isnt an ancient, he was a member of the Turks. He was in love with Lucretia who is Sephiroths mother and tried to stop Hojo from creating Sephiroth. As a punishment Hojo experimented on him turning him into a half man half beast creature (his limit breaks). Aeris father is professor Gast who wanted to protect her and her mother from being experimented on by Shinra, but he was killed by Shinra when they came to kidnap Aeris and her mother. Aeris is an ancient, but Sephiroth isnt. Sephiroth was conceived as a normal child but in the womb Hojo injected him with Jenova cells making him super powerful, Jenova wasnt an ancient but an alien entity who crashed to earth and tried to destroy the ancients.
