Are Sea-monkeys/Brine Shrimp freshwater or saltwater/marine?

Brine shrimp, as the term “brine” would suggest, are brackish/saltwater creatures and don’t live very long in freshwater! They would only last seconds in a freshwater tank with fish around anyway! Nommed instantly. The “formula” you get with the sea monkey packets would render a tank unsuitable for freshwater fish. Daphnia are freshwater micro-inverts that do survive and are also good food for tropical fish, they are probably actually better than brine shrimp really – I’ve heard of fish dying from gut compaction from eating too much brine shrimp and not being able to digest the salty critters properly!
