Are salt water pools better than chlorine pools?
It depends on what you are looking for. Most “salt water pools” have a salt powered chlorine generator. The chlorine generator converts the salt into chlorine. The pool water will not actually taste or feel salty. You will still probably have to add small amounts of traditional chlorine to your pool to compensate. You will also still have to add all of the traditional chemicals (minus chlorine) that you would with a more traditional pool set up. The chlorine generator is going to have a much higher upfront cost (generally $300 – $1000 dollars depending on your pool size and system that you choose). However, this cost might be worth it in the long run if you consider how much you will save on chlorine. Also, you will have less dry, flaky skin and hair and wil lnot have red, stingy eyes.
