Are Sainsburys dumbing down their tests at interviews?

I’ve run into a few people who have been working as cashiers who couldn’t figure out how to count out 72 cents in change, and I even got stuck trying to train a girl at a grocery store that even after a month couldn’t understand that something are sold by weight (apples) but other things are not (head of lettuce). Realistically, the type of math you were asked to do is really all you need to be able to do to be a cashier. Not a good idea to flat out criticize the hiring process in front of a prospective employee. It’s sad that such very basic tests will weed out people who can’t even handle that level of question, but they do certainly exist and the point of those tests are to weed them out.
