Are Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus Lovers or Cousins?
In the original version, they were lovers. However, when it was brought over to America, the show was changed to be directed towards a younger audience (in Japan it was directed towards teens, but regular teens in America wouldn’t enjoy it as much as little kids). One thing they changed was their relationship to being cousins instead of lovers because parents had issues with their daughter’s superheros being lesbians. So, it’s kind of both. In Japan, they were lovers. Outside Japan, they were cousins.
