Are safety shoes with polyutherane outsoles safe to use?
Polyutherane has been used for safety shoes for quite some time. It has its own advantages like being lightweight since it has a lower density than most rubber compounds and it is generally simpler and cheaper to process. Safety shoe users should just consider some points when decising which outsole specifications to use. If you use shoe with outsoles that crack while in use, it will definitely be hazardous to the wearer since it may cause slipping and exposure to chemicals. Another point is that PU outsoles being thermoplastic cannot be used where high temperatures are involved. PU outsoles will melt during conditions with extreme heat like fires where most floors will heat up. The wearer will have difficulty walking or running in fire emergencies with melted shoe outsoles.
