Are rumors of an early return for Jeff Saturday true?
Just prior to the start of the season, the Colts learned veteran center Jeff Saturday, in the midst of a 59-game start streak and the only NFL man that has ever served snaps to Peyton Manning, would be lost for at least six weeks (a plan that could have easily stretched through the length of the regular season), needing surgery to repair ligament damage in his right knee. We have since learned Saturday has changed direction, instead choosing to forego surgery in favor of rehabilitation and natural recovery, hoping the knee will correct itself and reach a level of health that could allow him (theoretically) to return to action before we reach October. On September 9th the Indianapolis Star reported coach Tony Dungy was hoping to see Saturday in pads and practicing as early as this week, and the reports that have followed indicate that has happened (in limited form).
