Are Rubber Bands better than Free Weights or Machines?
Exercise Band is an inexpensive exercising equipment that can adapt to exercises of any fitness level. These bands are available in different resistance levels, usually in light, medium and heavy. Exercise bands work similar to the weights that are used for exercise. The main differences being the cost and portability. These bands can be carried anywhere and thus you need not miss out on your workout if you are not able to attend the gym.
Exercising with rubber bands reduces the impact on joints. Since a rubber band is an elastic band, the more you pull it, the greater the resistance becomes. For instance, when performing a dumbbell chest press while lying down, the tension on the chest muscle decreases as the dumbbell is pushed upward toward the ceiling. The highest tension and the most difficult part of the exercise is the initial push of the dumbbells from chest level. Since rubber bands provide more resistance as they are stretched, the opposite is true when performing a similar dumbbell chest press exercise with rubber bands. Imagine grasping the handles of a rubber band and placing them at chest level. As you extend your arms and force the handles towards the ceiling, the band stretches and the tension increases.
