Are round houses inherently more energy efficient than rectangular houses?

I know someone that built a geodesic dome house from a kit about 35 years ago. It was very energy efficient. To answer the question though, the person I knew experienced very little air infiltration. The reason was that because of the shape of the house, significantly fewer wind traps existed, so wind would blow around the house instead of trying to blow through it. Ie, there is a quality about round house that makes it more energy efficient.

There’s less square footage to heat/cool, and the wind tends to deflect off the roundness (more even ambient temperature inside), whereas corners capture them. Think of a tornado tearing apart a house, and then consider what it would do with a round house.
