Are Ross and Monica Jewish or Christian? What about Rachel?
Ross and Monica may be a bit of both. I can’t find the original source of this information, but I recall reading once that one of their parents is Jewish, and one is Christian. I think this info came from one of the writers / producers during season 1 or 2. They definately have Jewish heritage, which they celebrate. This was a major point in episode [7.10, The One With the Holiday Armadillo.]. But that wasn’t the first reference to their Jewish heritage. For example, in episode [2.16], when Ross, Monica, and Richard are about to go into the Gellers’ house, you can see a mezuzah (traditional Jewish doorway ornament) on their doorframe. Most recently, in episode [10.09], when Monica asks, “Why couldn’t I be a reverend,” Chandler answers, “You’re Jewish.” So that much is very well established.
