The formula is nothing new, but Shakespeare was able to give a new twist to it. A prepubescent love truncated by hate, and ending in a fatal outcome. Similar formula is used to a similar extent in Tristan and Isolda, Sir Lancelot and Guinevere. Love is a very strong feeling so it is sorrow or grief. it does have physiological effects in our organism, extreme sadness can lead to depression and eventually a mental unbalance ending in a suicidal attitude. Yes Romeo and Juliet are a “reliable” story, it does happen.
