Are Ricoh CD-RWs picky about blank cds?

0

Hello everyone: I would like to know if Ricoh 8x4x32 cd-rw drives are as finicky as I have read when it comes to reading and writing to blank cd-rw disk other than its own Ricoh brand? I don’t want to end up having to return the infernal thing because it can’t read most off the shelf disc. I plan to use it in the same manner as one would use a iomega zip drive or conventional floppy: as data storage as opposed to burning cds for musical use (other than storing mp3 files like they are stored on hard disk that is). Incidently, this cd-rw drive I plan to get is only a stop gap as I await the arival of affordable and more versitale DVD-RW drives (DVD-ROM drives can’t read DVD-RAM media so I have read), so I do not plan to spend to much on this-to me-transitional technology. Thanks for any help!
