Are returning team members shown favoritism?

0

The only difference with a returning team member going through the tryout and team selection process is that the coaching staff will have some personal experience and a working knowledge of the skills and attributes of that person. This can be either a positive or negative with regard to team selection. That returning member has established a level of skill and ability to which they are expected to maintain or improve upon. This can be a challenge to that returning team member to continue to work hard during the off season to be prepared for tryouts. A returning team member can also be viewed either positively or negatively with regard to their attitude. It is not unusual for returning team members to not make the team the following year. Recently there has been at least one person every year who does tryout after being on the team and they do not make the team the following year.
