When funds are available, the department offers a limited number of grants for undergraduate research projects. In addition, the College of Arts and Letters has an Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program that provides financial support to students who wish to engage in independent research and creative projects. Students design their own projects or choose a project related to the research of their supervising faculty member. For information about these grants, go to the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts on the first floor of O’Shaughnessy. The Kellogg Institute and the Nanovic Institute also offer summer research grants.
