Are public suggestions for new routes being considered?
A. Public suggestions for routes were considered during the analysis. The Forest announced the start of the Travel Planning phase of the project in the summer of 2006 and requested public suggestions for additional (not already shown in the 2005 Clearwater NF Travel Guide) routes to consider by mid-summer 2007. That schedule was established so that the Forest Service could evaluate the routes during the Travel Planning phase. Very few suggestions were received and most arrived too late to be considered in the proposed action. Other suggestions were received as comments on the proposed action. Those that met basic screening criteria were included in alternatives in the DEIS.
