Are Public Service Announcements Copyrighted?
Yes, they’re copyrighted just like any other audiovisual work. While their goal is to get the word out, they choose the forum for doing so. You also have to consider that while they might not mind you rerunning the PSA, they may have licensed a musical background score under terms that would make it impossible. The individual who made the PSA may have been paid to do so under some arrangement which makes it impossible as well. When in doubt, ask for permission.
