Are Psychic Gifts in Conflict with Christianity?
In and of themselves, no, the psychic gifts aren’t in conflict with anything. They just are. It’s like any other talent, really. Some people can play heart-wrenching melodies on a violin. Others can paint a sunset that moves all to tears. Some can hear other people’s thoughts. The ability just is. This means I can embrace my paranormal talents and still make the choice to be a Christian. (or any other religion, for that matter.) But there is a caveat. You knew there’d be one, didn’t you? An important part of being a Christian – that I didn’t include in the earlier section – is that you’re supposed to love your fellow man as you love yourself. Not in a creepy way; just basic human compassion. The example we got from Jesus was to treat all people as equal, to help them, to care for them and to love them. I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but this pretty well means you can’t use your psychic abilities to scam people or as part of revenge. But even less obvious than that, it means you must
