Are professional growth points (PGPs) and graduate credits available through participation in The PBL Academy?
PBL Academy participants who are licensed teachers can use the hours in the PBL Academy toward earning professional growth points (PGPs) to renew their licenses, as long as their building administrators will confirm that the PGPs earned are applicable to the teachers’ Professional Growth Plans. The PBL Academy will be providing certificates of completion that include specific reference to the number of clock hours that a teacher completed (for example 9 hr X 5 days = 45 clock hours for the summer and 7 hours each for the fall and spring follow up sessions). Thus, a participant could earn up to 59 PGP points. To renew their licenses, teachers will have to submit 90 professional growth experience points ─ one clock hour in training = one point. Another option for license renewal will be the submission of a transcript with six credit hours. Thus, teachers will have the option ─ PGPs or graduate credit hours.
